Lori
has 20 years experience working in the
mental health field and holds a
Master’s Degree in Social Work. Her
passion for working with those touched
by adoption comes from her personal
experience and her desire to see
children and families that are created
through all circumstances, thrive and
enjoy one another.
Lori is an adult adoptee and was
raised in a large family of both
adopted and birth children. She has an
understanding of what it feels like to
be adopted and to navigate the unique
path of the adoptee through the
different developmental and life
stages. She recognizes that there can
be challenges to individuals and
families created through foster
placement and adoption, and believes
that with guidance, support and
education, these challenges can be met
by gaining the insight and tools
needed to heal and maintain healthy
family relationships.
Over 23 years ago, Lori searched for
and found her birth parents. She has
gained valuable experience and
understanding in the area of reuniting
with birth families, and the work,
patience and balance it takes to
incorporate this into the adoptee’s
and their family’s lives.
In addition, Lori worked for a
private adoption agency writing home
studies and consulting on
adoption-related issues for families.
She also served as an advocate in the
court system for children in foster
placements awaiting permanency plans.
Lori holds a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Psychology and one in Social
Sciences, with a Minor in Black
Studies. After earning her Master’s
Degree in Social Work, she completed
100 hours of the Post-Graduate
Certificate in Therapy with Adoptive
Families. Lori works from a
strengths-based perspective, utilizing
solution focused and narrative
therapies.
